As I was watching the film, I realized this is something I could do. I have researched enough in the past 3 years to be able to lead a team of young adults on a trip across Canada documenting, interviewing, photographing, and videoing to create a film to raise awareness about human trafficking of women and children in Canada. I need to do something with the information I have. Names of people I know with various skills started popping into my head, and I can think of at least a couple people who are also passionate about social justice and might be willing to join me on such a project. I don’t have the filming skills or editing experience, but I do have a lot of vision, I know people, and I can network. I believe I can direct and organize it in a way to get the message across clearly and powerfully... and I think I have the people and communication skills to interview various people on the subject. I just need to rally a few troops and get a team together to make this vision a reality!
I am not content to wait until I go overseas to make a documentary or rescue women and children from this heinous crime. I want to start by helping the ones in Canada, on my doorstep. There is a desperate need in Canada for recovery homes/communities with bedrooms specifically for women and children rescued from the sex slave trade. I could be the person who brings awareness to communities and cities and rallies their support to help fund such projects. I could rally builders, interior designers, counsellors, landscapers..etc... to donate their time and materials to set up safe house communities in their own towns. This needs to happen all across Canada. I could be the person to help get things rolling! I am going to start talking to people and see if I can get a team of people committed to making this happen and to start planning with.
